Why should parents choose Tokyo Learning Lab for an educational evaluation?

Tokyo Learning Lab offers as excellent alternative to completing a full psychological evaluation with a clinical psychologist. Using most of the same assessments and tools, you will receive the same type of valuable, detailed data to inform you about your child's specific strengths and challenges, but in a way that is easier, clearer, and less expensive.

* The KBIT is a shorter assessment than the WISC. It gives a Verbal, Nonverbal, and Composite IQ score.
** The WISC is a more comprehensive and longer assessment - approximately 1-2 hours. It gives a Full-Scale IQ and five primary index scores (Verbal Comprehension, Visual Spatial, Fluid Reasoning, Working Memory, and Processing Speed). It can only be given by a person with a doctorate or similar high-level training.

If you do not require a specific diagnosis or label for your child, Tokyo Learning Lab is an excellent option to give you everything you need to be more informed about your child's learning so that you can advocate for his/her needs.

Can you diagnose my child's learning disability, ADHD, or ASD?

At Tokyo Learning Lab, we do not diagnose learning disabilities, ADHD, or ASD. Those diagnoses can only be made by a licensed psychologist or a medical doctor.We are trained to use most of the same assessment tools as psychologists and doctors, however, and we can provide the same reports for those assessments. Educational evaluations take place at our Musashi-Koyama location - a four-minute walk from Musashi-Koyama Station on the Tokyu Meguro Line (trains also continue on the Namboku Line towards Azabu-Juban Station).
